Is This The Next ‘Sex And The City’?

Is it finally happening? Someone please pinch me, because I think I am dreaming!

I wrote an article a while back ( “Where Did All The Girl Power Go?”) about the lack of any new long running TV shows about women, their careers and fashion. A modern 'Sex And The City' if you will. And now, there might actually be a TV show that can pick up where Sex and the City left off! It is time for something fresh, new and modern; it is time for 'Younger'.

Younger is about Liza (Sutton Foster), that gave up her career when she got married and had her daughter, but that now, after getting divorced at 40, is ready to get back to work. But the problem is that no one is keen on hiring a 40 year old woman who hasn’t worked for 15 years. But after a night out, where she is mistaken for being in her mid 20's, she decides that maybe a makeover and a little white lie is all it takes to get her a chance at a new career, and the opportunity to relive her twenties.

The show, based on Pamela Redmond Satran’s Novel 'Younger', is created and produced by Darren Star, the creator of 'Sex And The City'. And (like it already couldn't get any better) Patricia Field, costume designer for 'Sex And The City', will be a costume consultant for 'Younger' as well!

Apart from Liza (Sutton Foster), other main characters are Kelsey (Hilary Duff) Liza’s co-worker, Maggie (Debi Mazar) Liza’s friend and Diana (Miriam Shor) Liza’s “devil-wears-prada-ish” boss.

With Darren Star behind the camera, Patricia Field’s eye for fashion and with New York as the backdrop, I can literally not ask for anything more.
